SICB 2026

SRE.college uses Muser, a web application that provides a structured way for mentors to post research projects for students, for students to find and apply for those projects, and for mentors to review applications and accept and decline them.

Mentors and students can use Muser rather than whatever ad-hoc method they’ve been using, like emails or word-of-mouth. The system uses defined rounds, so students know that there’s one place and scheduled times where they can apply for projects, and they will always get a decision on every application they submit.

How does SRE.college work?

SRE.College SICB 2026 Conference Updates

Tuesday, January 6, 2026

SICB 2026 has been great! We’ve talked to dozens of people, professors, grad students, and undergrads about SRE.college. Everyone seems to see the value that SRE.college and Muser would provide to schools. We’re looking forward to getting in touch with people now to see if we can get things working at their schools.

We've met a bunch of really talented researchers here! There's been a lot of interest today from students– one thing we've heard from them is how hard it is to find good research positions at their colleges. Most places don’t have anything formal available, and that something like Muser would really help. We created a form to allow students share SRE.college and Muser with their mentor.

We've supported SICB for years by sponsoring coffee breaks, but this is our first year actually attending the conference. Stop by at booth #406 to see how we can help connect students and mentors.
