Technical Information

SaaS

SaaS stands for "Software as a Service". SRE.college is a SaaS that lets your school run the Muser® system without needing to install anything on your school's servers or network, making it simple to get up and running without complicated IT approval and requisition processes.

SSO

SSO stands for "Single Sign On". This is what allows you to log in to your university email, learning management system, or any other services you use at your institution with your university credentials (username and password).

Integrating SRE.college with your institution's SSO makes the process for students and mentors seamless, automatically creating accounts for users that are part of your institution.

DNS

DNS stands for "Domain Name System". This is basically an "address book" for the internet. Your school's IT department will need to create an entry that points the URL for your version of SRE.college on our server.

For example, if your school was Faber College with a website at faber.edu, you could let users access your SRE.college site at a special URL like sre.faber.edu or muser.faber.edu (depending on what you decide to call your installation). Using a custom URL like this that includes faber.edu lets your users know that they're on an official website affiliated with your institution and can trust the content of the site.
